Established in 1979, we offer a range of practical and supportive services that foster economic, social and community wellbeing. For more information about our services, please click on the links below:
Reducing Transport & Access Challenges
- Our Wheels2Work moped loan scheme enables people to access employment and educational opportunities where public transport is unavailable or impractical.
- We operate a Community Car Scheme and an assisted shopping service (Shopping Angels) for those with reduced mobility in or around Northallerton or Bedale.
- Since the beginning of the pandemic we have carried out shopping and prescription deliveries for those unable to get out of the house for whatever reason.
- We chair the Hambleton and Richmondshire Rural Transport and Access Partnership(RTAP) which focuses on more systemic transport issues impacting our communities.
- We host the HARBUS bus user forum.
- We have three Digital Champions, and a selection of tablets and laptops to lend out.
Building Confidence, Social Connection and Resilience
- Includes our Carers' Respite Sitting Scheme
- Coffee mornings and social afternoons.
- Community visiting (matching interests of volunteers to people looking for social support and company).
- Telephone friending.
- Let's Get Connected (matching people to enable them to join clubs or groups where going to the first sessions alone would be challenging).
- Support and social groups such as the Bereavement Friendship Group and the Northallerton Women's Group.
Supporting Volunteers, Groups & Organisations
- We believe passionately in volunteering and have many opportunities for those that want to volunteer. Our recruitment process enables us to get to know potential volunteers, learn about their skills, interests, hobbies and experiences then help them to find the best volunteering opportunity.
- All volunteers are supported at Hambleton Community Action. But there are some people for whom volunteering presents extra challenges. By getting involved with one of our two Supported Volunteering projects, Stepping Stones and Busy Buddies, they too could benefit from volunteering.
- We provide Administrative Support to groups and forums.
- For smaller charities, our Community Accounting Service is available and includes independent examination, annual accounts, and payroll support.
